If Only I Had Eaten These Fruits For Weight Loss

Winning the battle of the bulge can be tough, especially as we get older but with a little focus, taking action and a great strategy, you will be able to shed fat in no time at all.

We are all aware that fruit is an awesome source of energy and packed with nutrients but in my opinion some fruits are better than others for weight loss.

Why?

Let’s face it…

Most fruit is high in carbohydrates and sugar.  I often see clients eating too much fruit and it often stops weight loss in its tracks!

Not good if your goal is to fit back into your favourite pair of jeans!

So what do you do if you enjoy fruit and the nutritional benefits that go along with eating fruit regularly?

Do what I do…

Eat your fruit in the morning.

Limit your fruit intake to 2 pieces a day.

Following are my favourite fruits that I enjoy and I also recommend to my clients and assist in weight loss

  1. LemonLemons and Limes

These fruits help to activate your stomach acids aiding in digestion.  A good digestive process will assist in weight loss.    Lemons and limes can also assist in bowel movements which aids detoxification.  One benefit of detoxification is improved liver function (the main organ that metabolises fat).  What more can I say…

Do yourself a favour and squeeze ½ lemon in warm water each morning and before dinner.  I also love to squeeze fresh lemon juice or lime juice on my salads.  Yum!

  1. avocadoAvocado

I can almost hear you saying… isn’t avocado high in fat?

Now remember there is good fat and bad fat.  Bad fat is bad for you BUT good fat will ASSIST in weight loss and avocado is full of GOOD FAT.  Research clearly indicates diets high in monounsaturated fat (good fat) are more beneficial for weight control because monounsaturated fat exerts beneficial effects on how your body uses blood sugar.

The trick with avocado is to not have huge amounts at each serving.  I normally eat 3 Tablespoons (or ¼ of an avocado) at a time.

  1. appleApples

What I love about apples (beside their crunch and amazing taste) is they have high water content and control the body temperature and help expel bad cholesterol from the body.  If this isn’t enough, the low-carbohydrate fruit like apples are not as high in sugar; instead, diets rich in low carbohydrate fruits aid burning excess fat and losing weight.
I welcome your comments and wish you every success in your weight loss, health and fitness journey.
