Is Gluten Free Better For Weight Loss?

GFreeGluten Free is popping up everywhere, it’s become the latest ‘hip’ word in dieting along with sugar free and protein packed.

So what do you think?
Is Gluten Free a con?
Is Gluten Free products going to help you lose weight quicker than other eating plans or could these products actually make you fatter?

The answer may not be what you expect.

Fact is, foods labeled ‘gluten free’ are often higher in fat and sugar than the non gluten free alternative to make them tastier.

Let me give you an example:

Helga’s Gluten Free, Dairy Free 5 Seeds Bread: per 2 slices

Fat: 5.9 g
Sugar: 3.0 g

Helga’s Wholegrain Bread (non gluten free)

Fat: 2.9g
Sugar: 2.0 g

As you can see, the gluten free bread is higher in both fat and sugar

To make matters worse, some companies have additives introduced that could be harming your health.

Of course people with coeliac disease, who are actually intolerant to product containing wheat, choosing gluten free is a must and makes sense BUT according to authorities, only 1% of the population is classed as coeliac.

To cut my long story short, if you are choosing gluten free because you think it will help you lose weight, save your money and discover what really helps you lose weight.

That of course is understanding how to speed up your metabolism through nutrition and correct exercise.
